Accountability Partner

Accountability Partner

Accountability Partners.

If there is one thing I have learnt during my years online is that nothing teaches you like masterminding with an accountability partner. These can be random people you meet online, at an event, or part of the same group sessions you’ve booked with a mentor for X months where the accountability partner is assigned to you.

Rules with accountability partners.

  • Meet with your accountability partner once a week,
  • Set intentions – 3 maximum as more is unreal,
  • If for some reason you two can not meet – make sure to quickly reinstall the weekly meetings (we stopped for Christmas and the New Year as our days fell on those actual holidays but I really missed talking to her and setting those goals – and to restart the meetings could have easily not taken place, but we both were determined to remain accountability partners).
  • Really ensure that the meetings get re-installed quickly.

Results with accountability partners.

The fact that you have weekly meetings with your accountability partner means that the really important things that move your business forwards are pushed to the forefront of the agenda. One must recall the accountability partner, is a person you do not really know and this person is NOT your friend, so like you takes time out of his agenda to meet with you – phone, live, ‘Skype’ whatever…. This reinforces the fact that these points on the agenda, then get done because there are only so many times you can say ‘Oh no I didn’t do that’ and be meat with an ‘Oh… Alright then!’ I recall this is what pushed me to make those 10 cold calls that I had meant to have done all week. The talk in my mind went something like this ‘Oh no, I call Steve, my accountability partner in 30 mins’ gulp, cold sweat… I know I have not done those calls… NO I just can’t face him and tell him again that I did not do it! And in the next 10 minutes I dialed those 10 numbers, totally confident and free of stress, as I was just imagining telling Steve that I had done it!

Why chose an accountability partner?

Perception changes and the pressure is high vis-à-vis of your accountability partner and then the task at hand becomes doable!!

Happy to be back at work after your 4th of July?

Happy to be back at work after your 4th of July?

I trust you had a good day yesterday, on the happy independence day 4th of July.

Independence is a noun and according to the definition of
  • freedom from outside control or support : the state of being independent

  • the time when a country or region gains political freedom from outside control.

So you have spent all day celebrating freedom from outside control…

And today, the 5th July, you have to go back to work….

Take a minute to think about that. Let’s re-examine the situation here…

You just celebrated the 4th of July, freedom from outside control, right?

So the country gave you freedom to have time – a paid day of work – time with which you do what you want.

So on the 4th of July 2017  you were free to do as you pleased whilst money was coming into your bank account.

Welcome to the digital economy 😉 This is my way of life now…
But before I was in the traditional economy like this…  So let’s analyse that for a bit shall we?
  • It was expected to from childhood:
    • Get good grades
    • do well in sports
    • ok odds are that you can’t really do both so well
    • go to college
    • get a good starting job
    • work your way up corporate ladder
    • marry
    • have kids
    • buy a house
    • save for kids education
    • kids off to college
    • and the whole cycle repeats itself over and over
  • In the traditional economy things went by at a slower pace and so new technologies and discoveries were slower, even with computers about in the later part of the ‘traditional economy’.
  • as this ‘traditional economy’ is slowly ebbing away leaving room for the digital economy we are left in the area I call no man’s land  (from border crossing zones yes).

This no man’s land – what is it?

Where traditional economy is being replaced by the digital economy. The transfer from one economy to the other, traditional to digital, can be prepared for the tidal wave is coming – ride it or be crushed by it. But please, please KNOW IT IS COMING, get informed about it and receive it with open arms 🙂

Here is a story about a company that chose to ignore it (as many did in the biginning of the transfer period):

The transfer has been brutal in some companies, for example Kodak. When I was growing up Kodak was the leader in photography equipment, films, photo paper… When the digital camera came into the marketplace Kodak did not think it could be reduced to zero by anything let alone some ‘camera’ not even producing any tangible, palpable content i.e. photographs to feel, touch, see clearly. What Kodak did not foresee was the multitude of software that would develop from that to enhance the image – photoshop, Adobe, paint………..  It did not foresee either, nor did many of us, the ways in which these digital products would take the world by strom, via apps such as Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Google could help share these digital images so fast – instantly in fact!

So Kodak went bankrupt and off the scene…

So on this 4th of July independence ( freedom from outside control ) let’s reflect…

WHY is it you work?

Now I can’t say I hear very often that it is for the love of the job, that became extinct with ages ago… But perhaps you are the odd one and that yes you love your job. I am so happy for you – truly – you are a minority.
Most of you will tell me however,
  1. ‘I have bills to pay’
  2. I have loans to repay
    1. for the car,
    2. fridge,
    3. washing machine
    4. computer
    5. phone
    6. tv
    7. sound system
    8. pool
    9. digital equipment
    10. wedding
    11. pet bills……..
  3. I have a mortgage,
  4. I have a family to support
  5. I have to keep up with the Jones’s
  6. So you see I can’t just give up my job – and besides to do what?
Now to do all this is very commendable and honourable but let’s be serious here a minute

I understand that you are doing all this because you followed what your elders told you (indoctrination from the crib!) and they only knew to do what the traditional economy dictated.

But not you

You are in the transitional economy and can be part of the digital economy, riding the wave.
Yes it is effing scary
‘Making money whilst you sleep?’     How can you do that????
Learning a new skill?                           I was never no good in school
Marketing?                                            Woo that is for sharks I want no part in that thanks…
Mindset work?                                      For goodness sakes that’s for woosies
Meditation?                                           Get real (Yet all billionaires do meditate!)
Right I’m off not reading anymore!!     Go to the end – I dare you !

Stop right there

But now my question for you:

Is your pay at the end of the month so worth your time?

So should you be interested in finding out how to get involved in the transition from traditional to digital economy,

Should you be willing to work hard (aren’t you already?) and learn new skills by people who have done it before and still doing it (not some school room teacher telling you about stuff used yeon’s ago now extinct 😉

Should you be willing to sacrifice some time (like stop being a couch tv potato and learning stuff)

Should you be willing to have the patience to give yourself space (well before Netflix we used to wait for episodes…)

Should you be willing to have the chance to offer your family and yourself the life you only see on tv and in your dreams…

Should you be willing to ride the wave (tidal economical digital wave) that is coming before it drowns you (like Kodak)

Should you be willing to dare to dream it is possible – for it is a reality in my world

Then get some real, live information and inform your self of this possibility

What IF… Get Your Life Back Today!

What IF… Get Your Life Back Today!

What if this was real?

This is a question I often ask myself, ‘What if I suddenly died?’

So I live each moment in gratitude;

Each moment in love;

Each moment happy for my body – however it looks at this present moment…

What if….

What if I just lost the plot and had a row with you? I forgive you as quickly as possible and try to call you to allow you the same freedom;

What if I just got ‘done over financially?’ Money is only that I thank myself for the health I have, this enables me to move mountains…

What if I get ill?

You see this is way more complex to deal with than any of the other reasons of this planet that I may have mentioned.

Being ill is a symptom of some deeper ailment. What if I can’t work out what this means? Then I can never get better…

In that case I just try and trust that the lesson it is sending my body will be learnt and I shall recover…

Recently this very experience happened and that is what I did: The dog had fleas, so off we went to get a treatment for that at the vets. That very night I had these rash like patches on my bosom… Having just read and congratulated this lady new friend of her finding out about her breast cancer and she shared how she was dealing with it, I was in awe of her for sure – so very brave, caring, loving and strong of her to share and deal with it like that. So of course I immediately think

‘WHAT IF…….?’

No I will not rewrite those dark feelings and questions I prefer to let YOU fill in the blanks for the purpose of the exercise!

Because I am strong and I know better I just brushed – in a couple more strokes than usual!!- it off and slept thinking tomorrow morning it will be gone.

But it wasn’t gone and in fact it got more patches and got hard… I washed everything I could lay my hands on, clothes, sheets, dog’s blanket, cat’s bedding, you name it, in the machine it went, and on the long cycle hot. The next day worse still it had propagated to the other breast!

So now I am being super strong and refusing to allow this to take hold on me – convincing myself that it was a bug in my bra…. Covering the itchy patches with ‘argile’ clay, putting Aloe gel on…

On the other hand I could have panicked, I could have gone down the spiral of what if…. I could have totally lost it and the rash spreading more and more, letting fear have it’s way, giving into the monkey shoulder talk… But I did not.

I kept my vibrations high, meditated a lot and concentrated on going into my body and fixing it

No what if here, move along please…

And so it started to get better and leave my body – a week later I still bear some marks but that ain’t nothing compared to what it could have been, to the hospital bed I could be lying in now, the hair falling out ……..

So let’s turn it around and

What if I really succeed?

what if I make a shit load of money?

what if I really charged my worth?

what if was a positive statement?

Wow I like that…

What if you commented and told your own what if statement 🙂

I’m a realist that’s why I can joke about – snapchat shots to prove it!!!

I’m a realist that’s why I can joke about – snapchat shots to prove it!!!

You tend to be very emotionally balanced and extremely level headed! No matter the situation, you always are able to look at the facts in order to make things run smoothly! (@playbuzz)

Unfortunately I fear this may be true 🙁

So how to turn this into a strength that I can play into?

Yeah this is why I can take the mickey out of situations and know the truth! That is my strength too now 😉

So I’m a Realist?!

I can’t explain how after doing this little test – you know the Facebook ones you just have to do (?!) – I felt like a bomb shell had hit me….

Realist and Elon Musk…

As I’m reading the biography of Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance (well technically reading via Audible 😉 I realise that Elon is very much like Steve Jobs in their demands on their employees. They set the sails and of course see things others do NOT – they are visionaires and have proved it so.

For my part as a realist and not yet a CEO of a world changing company, I can not be like them in the way I treat my peers…

Let me elucidate that 😉  I appraise the situation rather quickly and want to adjust the sails immediately if we want to get the best benefit from the change of wind. I will set about doing this when along come either & generally both the optimist and the pessimist giving me this and that and those reasons why, how, what and when…….. Thus often we all miss the opportunity to do anything at all !!

IS this what is happening to your life???

Why not attempt to listen when someone who seems to know more than you actually is doing something with their lives. Yes you will probably not agree with what they are doing but instead of thinking:

Wow that person is actually living his life as he understands it to be lived. Now

Rather than what most will think ‘Oh no, I wouldn’t be doing it like that?’ ‘How can he do that with his kids/spouse/dog…?’

In the last sentence to start analysing, which is already a good point 🙂 , and we have not been trained to analyse in any particular way until we get too down and the only way to analyse a situation is via personal development giving us this cutting edge mind that can analyse both sides positive and negative enabling us to vear via the positive for us at that time.

As a realist …

I’m asking you to have a real hard look into your life and even that will be hard for most of us. I can say this with a straight face and no backward thought for this is where I was in my life not so long ago at all. The pace I have picked up, the changes I have made to my life are astounding and I am in an awesome place right now but it was far from that a couple of years ago. Yes just 2 years ago I was in the bottom of a pit in the centre of the earth gasping for breath…

So when I tell you that there is a way to completely change your sails with the digital wind that is coming

So now I have your attention I would like to point out the advantages of sailing on the digital wind rather than against it, you can not change nature or the wind – it is blowing and it is up to you to get a grip!

Realist Action Step 1

When the Pope does a Ted Talk

This is the transcript for you in English – should you want it in another language please go here

0:11[His Holiness Pope Francis Filmed in Vatican City First shown at TED2017]

0:15Good evening – or, good morning, I am not sure what time it is there. Regardless of the hour, I am thrilled to be participating in your conference. I very much like its title – “The Future You” – because, while looking at tomorrow, it invites us to open a dialogue today, to look at the future through a “you.” “The Future You:” the future is made of yous, it is made of encounters, because life flows through our relations with others. Quite a few years of life have strengthened my conviction that each and everyone’s existence is deeply tied to that of others: life is not time merely passing by, life is about interactions.

1:27As I meet, or lend an ear to those who are sick, to the migrants who face terrible hardships in search of a brighter future, to prison inmates who carry a hell of pain inside their hearts, and to those, many of them young, who cannot find a job, I often find myself wondering: “Why them and not me?” I, myself, was born in a family of migrants; my father, my grandparents, like many other Italians, left for Argentina and met the fate of those who are left with nothing. I could have very well ended up among today’s “discarded” people. And that’s why I always ask myself, deep in my heart: “Why them and not me?”

2:35First and foremost, I would love it if this meeting could help to remind us that we all need each other, none of us is an island, an autonomous and independent “I,” separated from the other, and we can only build the future by standing together, including everyone. We don’t think about it often, but everything is connected, and we need to restore our connections to a healthy state. Even the harsh judgment I hold in my heart against my brother or my sister, the open wound that was never cured, the offense that was never forgiven, the rancor that is only going to hurt me, are all instances of a fight that I carry within me, a flare deep in my heart that needs to be extinguished before it goes up in flames, leaving only ashes behind.

3:38Many of us, nowadays, seem to believe that a happy future is something impossible to achieve. While such concerns must be taken very seriously, they are not invincible. They can be overcome when we don’t lock our door to the outside world. Happiness can only be discovered as a gift of harmony between the whole and each single component. Even science – and you know it better than I do – points to an understanding of reality as a place where every element connects and interacts with everything else.

4:27And this brings me to my second message. How wonderful would it be if the growth of scientific and technological innovation would come along with more equality and social inclusion. How wonderful would it be, while we discover faraway planets, to rediscover the needs of the brothers and sisters orbiting around us. How wonderful would it be if solidarity, this beautiful and, at times, inconvenient word, were not simply reduced to social work, and became, instead, the default attitude in political, economic and scientific choices, as well as in the relationships among individuals, peoples and countries. Only by educating people to a true solidarity will we be able to overcome the “culture of waste,” which doesn’t concern only food and goods but, first and foremost, the people who are cast aside by our techno-economic systems which, without even realizing it, are now putting products at their core, instead of people.

6:08Solidarity is a term that many wish to erase from the dictionary. Solidarity, however, is not an automatic mechanism. It cannot be programmed or controlled. It is a free response born from the heart of each and everyone. Yes, a free response! When one realizes that life, even in the middle of so many contradictions, is a gift, that love is the source and the meaning of life, how can they withhold their urge to do good to another fellow being?

6:50In order to do good, we need memory, we need courage and we need creativity. And I know that TED gathers many creative minds. Yes, love does require a creative, concrete and ingenious attitude. Good intentions and conventional formulas, so often used to appease our conscience, are not enough. Let us help each other, all together, to remember that the other is not a statistic or a number. The other has a face. The “you” is always a real presence, a person to take care of.

7:52There is a parable Jesus told to help us understand the difference between those who’d rather not be bothered and those who take care of the other. I am sure you have heard it before. It is the Parable of the Good Samaritan. When Jesus was asked: “Who is my neighbor?” – namely, “Who should I take care of?” – he told this story, the story of a man who had been assaulted, robbed, beaten and abandoned along a dirt road. Upon seeing him, a priest and a Levite, two very influential people of the time, walked past him without stopping to help. After a while, a Samaritan, a very much despised ethnicity at the time, walked by. Seeing the injured man lying on the ground, he did not ignore him as if he weren’t even there.Instead, he felt compassion for this man, which compelled him to act in a very concrete manner. He poured oil and wine on the wounds of the helpless man, brought him to a hostel and paid out of his pocket for him to be assisted.

9:26The story of the Good Samaritan is the story of today’s humanity. People’s paths are riddled with suffering, as everything is centered around money, and things, instead of people. And often there is this habit, by people who call themselves “respectable,” of not taking care of the others, thus leaving behind thousands of human beings, or entire populations, on the side of the road. Fortunately, there are also those who are creating a new world by taking care of the other, even out of their own pockets. Mother Teresa actually said: “One cannot love, unless it is at their own expense.”

10:26We have so much to do, and we must do it together. But how can we do that with all the evil we breathe every day? Thank God, no system can nullify our desire to open up to the good, to compassion and to our capacity to react against evil, all of which stem from deep within our hearts. Now you might tell me, “Sure, these are beautiful words, but I am not the Good Samaritan, nor Mother Teresa of Calcutta.” On the contrary: we are precious, each and every one of us. Each and every one of us is irreplaceable in the eyes of God. Through the darkness of today’s conflicts, each and every one of us can become a bright candle, a reminder that light will overcome darkness, and never the other way around.

11:27To Christians, the future does have a name, and its name is Hope. Feeling hopeful does not mean to be optimistically naïve and ignore the tragedy humanity is facing. Hope is the virtue of a heart that doesn’t lock itself into darkness, that doesn’t dwell on the past, does not simply get by in the present, but is able to see a tomorrow. Hope is the door that opens onto the future. Hope is a humble, hidden seed of life that, with time, will develop into a large tree. It is like some invisible yeast that allows the whole dough to grow, that brings flavor to all aspects of life. And it can do so much, because a tiny flicker of light that feeds on hope is enough to shatter the shield of darkness. A single individual is enough for hope to exist, and that individual can be you. And then there will be another “you,” and another “you,” and it turns into an “us.” And so, does hope begin when we have an “us?” No. Hope began with one “you.” When there is an “us,” there begins a revolution.

13:16The third message I would like to share today is, indeed, about revolution: the revolution of tenderness. And what is tenderness? It is the love that comes close and becomes real. It is a movement that starts from our heart and reaches the eyes, the ears and the hands. Tenderness means to use our eyes to see the other, our ears to hear the other, to listen to the children, the poor, those who are afraid of the future. To listen also to the silent cry of our common home, of our sick and polluted earth. Tenderness means to use our hands and our heart to comfort the other, to take care of those in need.

14:13Tenderness is the language of the young children, of those who need the other. A child’s love for mom and dad grows through their touch, their gaze, their voice, their tenderness. I like when I hear parents talk to their babies, adapting to the little child, sharing the same level of communication. This is tenderness: being on the same level as the other. God himself descended into Jesus to be on our level. This is the same path the Good Samaritan took. This is the path that Jesus himself took. He lowered himself, he lived his entire human existence practicing the real, concrete language of love.

15:23Yes, tenderness is the path of choice for the strongest, most courageous men and women. Tenderness is not weakness; it is fortitude. It is the path of solidarity, the path of humility. Please, allow me to say it loud and clear: the more powerful you are, the more your actions will have an impact on people, the more responsible you are to act humbly. If you don’t, your power will ruin you, and you will ruin the other. There is a saying in Argentina:“Power is like drinking gin on an empty stomach.” You feel dizzy, you get drunk, you lose your balance, and you will end up hurting yourself and those around you, if you don’t connect your power with humility and tenderness. Through humility and concrete love, on the other hand, power – the highest, the strongest one – becomes a service, a force for good.

16:52The future of humankind isn’t exclusively in the hands of politicians, of great leaders, of big companies. Yes, they do hold an enormous responsibility. But the future is, most of all, in the hands of those people who recognize the other as a “you” and themselves as part of an “us.” We all need each other. And so, please, think of me as well with tenderness, so that I can fulfill the task I have been given for the good of the other, of each and every one, of all of you, of all of us. Thank you.

£10,000 spent, 20,000 views, 6,000 abandon carts, ZERO Sales. Have I Failed As An entrepreneur?

I started my e-commerce store about three months ago ,very optimistic yet realistic. I set aside my life savings hoping to venture into a profitable e-commerce store. I found the perfect product; selling art prints, effectively using my talent. Paid for the advanced plan(cont in comment)

As Henry Ford said ‘If you think you can or if you think you can’t then you are right’

If you ask this question then yes your thoughts are what your beliefs become, are they not?

Should you be in two minds about this then I would suggest you put your past behind you and use it as experience which is what entrepreneurs do 🙂

If this was just three months ago then

  1. This is fresh data that can be exploited to some extent.
  2. To understand why and what was incongruent within your message, your imaging;
  3. I would not call zero sales in just three months groundbreaking news 🙂

Unfortunately many people do as you and put their life savings into an e-commerce store without the proper education. I recall when my husband went from an employee to his own company, he had to by law follow a 3 day course to prepare him for the change. It was very brief and just gave the bare minimum but he was keeping the same profession a plumber, the course was useful nevertheless.

There are, as everything on the internet a plethora of courses and you can do and if I may suggest there is one that has an ‘earn as you learn’ business system. Their modular system allows you to learn at your own rhythm and they have a whole module on e-commerce, following live case studies; having mentors that have years of experience giving their sources and little tricks. To have more information about this system go see my website Digital Education Giving Freedom For You in the 21st Century or you can go straight to the 30 day trial bundle here

Enjoy the journey 🙂
